To all you kind people who believe you are helping a good person behind an important cause,
Ms Sweeney (self- declared founder of NARK) will have you believe that she is very much reaching, I quote “her demise”. I believe Ms Sweeney has helped bring Child Abuse to the news, but that is not all she has done.
Before you race off to help an apparently wonderful woman, ask yourself some commonsense questions first- why has she given her personal account details and NOT her mortgage account? Why has she not applied for help earlier? Is her husband currently unemployed? Why has she not made mortgage payments but has managed to keep her internet going? What does Ms Sweeney intend to do if she reaches $3500 and there is excess? How many people have genuinely benefitted from Ms Sweeney's (not real) charitable trust?
I beg you to ask Ms Sweeney SPECIFICALLY who she has helped? As she had tried to make NARK a wage earner for some time now...Where are the proceeds from the MANY donated good that have come into HER personal hands?
Soon enough (after upcoming legal proceedings- but that's according to hearsay at present- see= truth) you will feel quite bitter about how your money has been spent- as do most people that have donated to NARK (of which there is no record). Or the people that bought NARK support Tshirts (but never received them). Or even the young family that lost their things before christmas- there were gifts left at Ms Sweeneys address (PS3 and a tonka truck) which were never forwarded to the family as promised by NARK (they have since had donations LONG after christmas by another volunteer run organisation).
If you feel that you know better than I and you have the full picture, I applaud your dedication. But I personally suggest you send that money to womans refuge or an honest (real/legal) charity where victims of abuse will truly receive the benefit.
A honest stranger.
